Fast Fast.

Just a quick post for anyone in the North East area, to let you know about an awesome event that Urban Outfitters in Newcastle are holding today. From 3pm until 8pm UO on Grainger Street will be hosting a shopping event with live music from Union Choir, Beat the Poets and Let's Buy Happiness.

I haven't heard of the other two bands, but Let's Buy Happiness are awesome (not a biased opnion, even though our lovely friend Sarah is the singer!). Plus if good music wasn't enough to get you down there; there's 20% off everything, goodie bags with every purchase and a free bar provided by Rekorderlig and No 28 (while stocks last obvz)!
See you there!

Claire & Brydenx

P.S. Here's a couple of songs from LBH. 'Fast Fast' (a favourite) and 'Works Better on Paper' Enjoy!

Ding dong... Avon calling...

Until recently I'd never tried any products by Avon, the only association I had with them was looking through my Grandma's catalogue when I was little and rubbing the 'scratch and sniff' perfume pages. A girl that I work with has recently started selling Avon products so I thought I'd try a few out.

Nailwear Pro+ in Seabreeze £2.49, Super Shock Mascara in Black £8.50, Naturals Room Spray in Milk and Honey £2, Ideal Flawless Foundation in Ivory £12 (prices taken from current catalogue)

I've had a few nail polishes in similar colours to this but this seems to be the perfect shade of muted, pastel green. I can really comment on it's lasting power as I wear false nails, so tend to get edge wear more than chipping, but two coats of this builds up a nice colour.

I really wanted to get this mascara as it's the one my friend at work wears and she has lovely long lashes, but sadly this doesn't have the same effect on mine. Having said this, it's a pretty decent mascara for the price. I find it a bit difficult to apply to my lower lashes too because the brush is really large.

I love this spray! It has a really sweet, yet clean smell to it. I use it every day in my room, on my bed sheets and on my clothes. I've already bought another spray and other products in the scent range.

I'd heard various good reviews of this foundation on blogs and it was the reason I placed my first Avon order. I've found it blends really easily with both a brush and fingers. This Ivory shade is a little yellow toned for my skin, but they also do a Light Pink shade which I'm going to buy so I can tailor my own perfect shade.

Since this order arrived, I've already had another order arrive (post coming soon!) and I'm putting another order in this week; you could say I'm an Avon convert. Because I don't know much about the products I've just been buying what's been on offer and I like the sound of. I'd definitely recommend checking Avon out for a varied range of affordable beauty products.

Eating out: St Sushi Newcastle

Claire and I recently visited St Sushi for some Japanese food. Despite what the name suggests this restaurant does not only do sushi but also offers a vast selection of hot dishes and Bento boxes to choose from. I have always loved St Sushi since it first opened and I even celebrated my 21st birthday there.

When they first opened they had a conveyor belt but a couple of years later they took it out and went in favour of table service. I do miss the conveyor belt as it was very easy just to pop in for a quick lunch but it's not too much of a problem - Their service is very quick!

Claire and I both opted for a Bento Box as these were the most value for money. I opted for the Chicken Miso Katsu and Claire went for the Salmon Teriyaki.

My Chicken Miso Katsu

We also ordered some sushi! (Salmon Maki, Eel Nigiri, Tamago Nigiri, Chicken Katsu Roll and Fried Prawn rolls x 2)

I would highly recommend St Sushi. If you plan on going then book a table or go early. There's been a few times where I have tried to go at the 'normal' tea time (between 7.30 - 8.30) and there's been a queue so I've had to go somewhere else. Claire and I went about 6pm and there was a few tables spare.

MUA Lip Boom.

Ok, so I'm going to admit this off the bat- Alexandra Burke makes me cringe. I can't help it, ever since her stint on the X Factor I can't help but feel cringey ever time I see even a photo of her. Having said that, like the fickle little blogger that I am I was intrigued to try her 'Lip Boom' (Come on, even the name is cringey) collaboration with mega cheap make up line MUA.

Lip Boom in OMG and Doin' Good
147 151 I bought two of the 4 in 1 lip products which retail at £3. For this you get a double ended product, with a creamy, quite matte lipstick at one end and a gloss at the other. I'll be straight with you, the lipstick is lovely, long lasting and I would happily pay a measly 3 quid for it again. The gloss however, no thank you! There is some seriously glitter in this, massive chunks of it in fact. It's a nightmare to get off, I had glitter all over my arm for ages after swatching it. The only positive I have is that it smells nice.

So Alexandra, I like your lipstick but not your gloss. OKDOTCOM?

Great minds think alike.

Last year Bryden and I used to live together. We spent so much time together we'd often have the same thoughts at the same time ('Lasagne!' and 'Let's go and buy loads of cake from Morrisons and eat until we feel sick!' being two of the more popular ones) and it's nice to see we still share this mental connection, even though we don't see each other every day.

We've both done a 'things I've bought lately' post today and as you can see we have some quite similar, completely coincidental items! Great minds do think alike.

Tan bag- BHS £17.50
Lapiz of Luxury nail polish- Essie £7.99
Shirt- H&M £14.99
Stackable rings- H&M £2.99
Belts- New Look £2.99 each
Notebook- M&S £4
Lip butter- Korres £6
Lipstick in Coy- Topshop £8
Blushes in Neon Rose and Head Over Heels- Topshop £8 each

Oooooaaa! I wanna be with you everywhere!

Totally obsessed with the EDF energy advert at the moment... You know... the one with the little dancing squishy rubbery monster thing? Yeah...

Here's a few things I've picked up recently:

Cream Shirt - H&M, Chanel Powder Compact And Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick In Fetiche, White Satchel - H&M, Moleskine Diary - Paperchase, Swan Print Skirt - Topshop

Close up of H&M Satchel ( I think this was £14.99). I've been wanting a Cambridge Satchel for what seems like forever but this is a good alternative in the mean time.

Gold Coloured Collar Necklace - Topshop

The Bourjois Magic Nail Varnish Remover - £4.99 Superdrug. This stuff is an absolute life saver. Smells wonderful also.

Alexander Wang Kori Off The Chain Boots DUPE

I've been lusting after the Alexander Wang Kori boots for a while now. I absolutely love the cut out heel. I didn't really think about buying a pair as I knew for a fact I'd never be able to save up in time to buy a real pair especially when there are other more important things I'm currently saving up for (moving out! woo hoo!). I was browsing Victoria VIPXO's blog when I came across some dupes in her ebay finds posts. I was so excited and I immediately decided I had to buy a pair on my next pay day.

Looking at the ebay post the picture looked so good! And even better - They were only £28! Link to ebay post - Only size 4's left unfortunately.

However, when they arrived I was a little disappointed. The 'leather' was soo rigid and the chain edging was very shoddily attached and there was some really tacky, cheap silver lurex protruding from the shoe where the chain edging was attached. Not very nice at all! Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of this but I really wish I had because it was soo awful! I wasn't exactly going to send them back to china so I just decided to cut the chain and horrible lurex off!

3b64037b, Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

I'm soo glad I cut the horrible edging off because now I'm in love!!! A week later they had worn in really nicely and are the most comfortable shoes I own.

BUT THEN... 4 weeks later disaster struck! I was walking through the car park at work and the heel just fell off!? I couldn't believe it! This has never happened to me before and it was a little embarrassing walking home with one heel up and one heel down (I'm not sure anyone noticed though?! Haha oh well!)

The damage:

The good news is that shoe heels are easily fixed as long as you have the right tools. My dad screwed and glued them back together and I was wearing them again the very next day. I was wearing a couple of insoles inside the shoes anyway so I cant even feel the screws he's put in. They also feel a lot more sturdier!!

Even though they broke I don't regret buying these at all and I'm soo happy with my purchase. They go with everything!
